From the day he embraced Islam until the day he died, Abu Bakr As-Siddique (raa) was the ideal Muslim, surpassing all other Companions in every sphere of life. During the Prophet’s lifetime, Abu Bakr was an exemplary soldier on the battlefield; upon the Prophet’s death, Abu Bakr (R) remained steadfast and, through the help of Allah, held this nation together. When others suggested keeping Usaamah’s army back, Abu Bakr insisted – and correctly so – that the army should continue the mission which the Prophet (S) had in mind. When people refused to pay Zakaat, and when the apostates threatened the the stability of the Muslim nation, Abu Bakr was the one who remained firm and took decisive action against them. These are just some of the examples of Abu Bakr’s many wonderful achievements throughout his life. Abu Bakr’s methodology as a Muslim and as a ruler helped establish the foundations of a strong, stable, and prosperous country – one that began in Al-Madinah, extended throughout the Arabian Peninsula, and then reached far-off lands outside of Arabia. Throughout the brief period of his caliphate (about 2 years), Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (raa) faced both internal and external challenges; the former mainly involved quelling the apostate factions of Arabia and establishing justice and peace among the citizens of the Muslim nation; and the latter mainly involved expanding the borders of the Muslim nation by spreading the message of Islam to foreign nations and conquering those nations that stood in the way of the propagation of Islam. During the era of his caliphate, Abu Bakr (raa) sent out armies that achieved important conquests. The victories achieved during the era of Abu Bakr’s Caliphate paved the way for victories that later took place after Abu Bakr’s death.

    Le me

    Dont buy it!

I would not encourage anyone to read it due to the issues in aqeedah/creed of the author.I bought it without really thinking about the author and when I realised I asked a scholar from ahlul sunnah, who follows the way of the salaf, about it and this was his reply. He said the author has written the books to suit and bend according to his creed and not in a manner a muhaddis would have authored it. So if you are some one who follows/ trying to follow the way of the salaf, pls refrain from buying it, instead read the works of ad dhahabi, ibn khudama abdul ghani, mooaa al azmi etc

    Very poorly written biography

I can only assume it is the translation of the original author’s work which has contributed to the appalling style in which this book is written. Because it felt as though I was reading something written by 12 year old child; consequently making it incredibly difficult to enjoy and take seriously. Some of the stories told came across comical and even inadvertently putting Abu Bakr in a bad light. A non-Muslim reader, especially a more critical/cynical one, would have been left unimpressed with the character of Abu Bakr and the over-exalting and over-repeated qualities attributed to him.But my biggest gripe was the structure of the biography. Instead of it being a simple chronological history of Abu Bakr’s life (taking you through his journey step by step), the book is just made up of short random stories at different times of his existence. One paragraph you’re reading about his heroic efforts in battle, and then suddenly you’re reading about a dispute he has with his neighbour about a date tree. And in nearly each of these stories, the author has to continuously remind us that he, Abu Bakr was Muhammad’s (pbuh) best friend, best of all the companions, rolemodel Muslim, and the list goes on. It gets incredibly boring and frustrating to be told the same thing over and over. So, overall, if you’re looking for a well-structured, no-nonsense account of Abu Bakr’s life, then this is not the book for you. Instead you’ll be greeted with random bits of short stories that go waaaay over the top in trying to convince you Abu Bakr was a great man – as a result, making the sophisticated reader less likely to take the book seriously.
